Indian Premier League Season 13 is re-schedule to 19 September. The biggest T20 cricket league is now happening in UAE. IPL 2020 was supposed to happen early this year but postponed due to Covid-19. In fact, all the outdoor sports events were canceled during that time and left sports fans disheartened.
The cancellation of IPL was a great loss of money spent by sponsors and organizers. Some of small sponsors ruled out of the league due to financial crisis. Many big sports websites and TV channels had faced major losses due to the cancellation of outdoor sports.
Luckily, the conditions in United Arab Emirates are now stable. They are all up for hosting IPL 2020 in their country. BCCI has already accepted the offer and moving forward to host 13th season of IPL in UAE. However, it required a formal letter from Indian Government and finalizing the SOPs on every step of the league.
IPL 2020 new schedule dates are already announced. There has been much changed since the re-schedule happen. This year, the IPL will be longer than any previous season. 62 matches in 52 days are expected with strict safety guidelines. BCCI is trying to slip in Women’s T20 League between IPL schedule on the same venues to make the traveling and staying to the minimum.
IPL 2020 Schedule Date and Time
Official dates are finalized on 2nd August after a video-conference between BCCI and Indian Government officials. Some very important points have discussed in the meeting which are the following:
- The matches will officially start from 19 September and the final match on 10th November 2020
- The matches will be played on 10 doubleheader formats.
- Afternoon matches will start 3:30 PM (Indian Standard Time) and evening matches will start on 7:30 PM (IST)
- The whole league will host in UAE in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi stadiums.
- Each team allowed to take 25-28 players and 15 to 20 staff members.
- Vivo is still the official partner of IPL 2020 League and start sports in the streaming partner.
- There could be change in squads because some south African and New Zeeland players will not play in the first round.
