Video games play a big part of people’s lives. And, they appeal to not only children and teenagers. Games may turn out to be useful, and if wished, you can even try to become a professional esports athlete and earn money by participation in tournaments. However, in lots of cases, interest in games has more harm than help and you should limit the time you spend in front of a PC. Why — there are several solid reasons.
Video Games Encroach upon Time
The main problem of video games is that they take up the most valuable resource of a person — their time. Some play after work, some do it instead. Most of them spend tens of hours in front of their computers.
You should estimate how many useful things you could do instead of aimless gaming. Earn extra money, have a walk with family, do housework, read, take up an interesting hobby and whatnot. To illustrate, let us take a look at the head of Microsoft Bill Gates. Bill promotes a range of more interesting and useful things to do instead of staring at your PC – reading books, traveling, board and sports games.
Video games are endless, and if online battles and exciting plots caught your interest, you will not notice how years have gone. It is better to come to your senses and stop wasting your life on games. They are not worth it.
Games Replace Reality
The things happening on the screen are completely different from reality. Human relationship, reaction to events, ways of achieving goals. Everything is different in games. No wonder, an adequate person separates the worlds, but it’s harder than it seems.
The actions happening in games affects the way people think. Sometimes it can be beneficial, but there are cases when a person changes for the worse. It gets even more complicated if an avid gamer plunges into the virtual world and they stop caring about their own life.
People hurry to return to their characters associating themselves with them rather than their own personalities. They try to success in the game, develop themselves in the game, worry about the game, and live there too. But, you should be doing it in reality.
Video Gaming is a Costly Hobby
You have to spend a lot of money on games. For starters, you need hardware. A good gaming computer or a modern console with a TV set cost a lot. It comes to hundreds or even thousands of dollars whereas a budget laptop would be enough for work and studying.
Games in official stores are also expensive. AAA class projects cost tens of dollars. Several modern games in a library are as pricey as a console or a computer. Fans of “free” online games do not save their money as well as they donate regularly.
The mentioned hardware has to be renewed several years later and games are released one right after another. All the money that gamers spend on it could be used for more useful purchases and deeds.
Games can be Unhealthy
It would not be a big deal if the mentioned reasons to give up games were not fortified with physical harm. Lasting interest in video games does not serve well. It inflicts a sedentary lifestyle and visual deterioration.
If you spend the rest of your time on sport, active work or other activities of this kind — the game will be useful as it will be a way to relax. However, if office workers or drivers, having spent a whole day on the stretch, come home and continue doing the same — there is a reason to think about turning the way you relax into a more active one.
Games are for Children
If a gamer is a child or a teenager — it is even great that they spend time at home, safe and sound. The interest to video games in this age is fully justified. But, older people should change their computer habits.
The main topic of schoolchildren’s conversations is computer games. But, if it comes to thirty-year-olds — it is not OK. Such people are narrowed by games. Their outlook does not evolve.
Having reached a particular age, you should reconsider your hobbies. This is how you can become a more interesting interlocutor and a more respectable human. Let kids deal with games.
