Adaptogenic drinks are a newer phenomenon, and they contain different adaptogens; these are plants and herbs that can help the human body adapt to stress. This can have a multitude of benefits, from increasing relaxation and the quality of sleep to improving the immune system. These are naturally occurring plant materials that are used commonly every day, just formulated into a beverage.

Adaptogens are great for our bodies, but it’s important to remember that they are natural ingredients; they can taste bitter and earthy. This is why adaptogenic drinks are so great because they provide the same boosts that adaptogens would, but the strong tastes of the ingredients used are offset by other ingredients.

Ingredients

Many different herbs and plants are considered adaptogenic, and they are used in adaptogenic drinks. Ones regularly used are:

  • Ashwagandha: Also referred to as Indian Ginseng, this plant material has been suggested to improve energy, relieve stress, and enhance focus.
  • Ginseng: A widely-used herb that has been suggested to have calming effects, can enhance memory, and boost the immune system.
  • Tulsi Basil: An herb in the mint family, it has the potential to reduce anxiety and stress.
  • Schisandra: A vine plant that can produce fruit, Schisandra has been suggested to improve endurance, reduce stress, and boost the immune system.
  • Reishi Mushroom: This mushroom is known to help reduce fatigue and depression.
  • Turmeric: Turmeric contains curcumin, which can aid the body in regulating cortisol levels, which can help reduce stress.
  • Kava: kava, a form of pepper, has been used for many years in different cultures. It has been linked to reducing anxiety.

How Adaptogenic Drinks Help

Adaptogenic drinks are a more natural way to manage stress, fatigue, and poor sleep, amongst other ailments. They can help you regain or retain balance in times of stress by diminishing the number of stress hormones released. Every adaptogen can help you in a different way, so it really depends on the adaptogens in your drink.

Adaptogenic drinks can overall benefit you by:

  • Improving energy and attention
  • Enhancing your immunity
  • Helping relieve inflammation and soreness
  • Balancing hormonal levels
  • Balancing your sleep cycle
  • Reducing stress

If you want to drink that both tastes amazing and can benefit your body, adaptogenic drinks are a great option.
